This episode is part one of two about Ethan’s career. Ethan broke out as a promising young player on CLG, where he transitoned from working with veterans to being led by FNS. A notable early result was CLG shocking the world by beating Gambit on cbblestone and making the play-offs of StarSeries S3 finals in 2017. The following year Ethan moved over to Daps’s NRG project and after spending the first half of the year struggling to find results offline the team would make a surprise finals run at StarSeries S5. 2019 was the big year of Ethan’s CS:GO career, as his NRG team established themselves as a clear top five team, making the semi-finals of tournaments routinely but never going further. stanislaw was brought in to replace daps to help the team over the hump but before he even joined they upset Astralis at ESL ProLeague S9. That trend continued as NRG beat Astralis against in a series at the major in the swiss system only to rematch in the semi-finals and find a fully powered by Astralis waiting and a top four elimination on the cards. Rebranded to EG, Ethan’s team struck back to win their third and fourth series out of the last five against Astralis and in doing so impressively win ESL One New York shortly after the major. EG followed up that win with a StarSeries S9 trophy and had made a strong case they were top two in the world and giving Astralis a serious contender to worry about. Alas, EG fell off as the next year began and then the world went to online play online. A brief resurgence occured under new coach zews as EG dominated all domestic competition, but then results began to flag and 2021 began so poorly Ethan decided to depart for VALORANT. In VALORANT Ethan was part of the 100 Thieves team which notably had a semi-finals run at a VCT late in 2021. The following year seemed something of a bust, as Ethan moved to NRG but little came of it. Even 2023 seemed ominous as the Evil Geniuses side he joined were highly scrutinsed and critcised early on. That all changed at the second VCT event of the year, where they made a run to the finals. At CHAMPIONS, the world championship of the game, EG went a step further and won the trophy itself. EG’s line-up was torn apart after that due to financial concerns with the organisation and Ethan has transitioned to become the in-game leader of NRG. In part one, Ethan talks about his CS:GO career, coming up on CLG, establishing himself on NRG, working with IGLs like daps and stanislaw, making big runs against Europe’s best, the online era and why he chose to move to VALORANT.
