Powerful Solar Outburst Rips Off Comet Nishimura’s Tail

Wondering what happened to comet Nishimura? It’s still quite happily sunbathing in the field of view of the USNRL HI-1 camera on NASA’s STEREO-A! Lots of great ion tail / solar wind interaction happening! BTW, all that stuff your seeing coming from the Sun is not coronal mass ejections (though some is) -- it’s mostly just the ever-present solar wind flowing out from the Sun, and bathing our entire solar system.
