The first true Winter Olympics were held from January 25 to February 5, 1924, in Chamonix, France. In total, 258 athletes from 16 countries (including Canada) competed in 16 events from 6 sports.
The film The Olympic Games Held at Chamonix in 1924 shows the resort and its surroundings, as well as some of the opening ceremonies. Also featured are qualifying rounds of 500-metre speed skating, figure skating choreography, and part of the hockey final between Canada and the United States.
