Macrame Star Ornament: Step by Step Beginner’s Guide to Intricate Knotting
In this video, I’m going to show you how to make a beautiful macrame star ornament. This is a great beginner’s project for those of you who want to take your skills up a notch and try more intricate knotting.
Materials used:
1) 3mm single strand cord in natural from our Rainbow cord line
2) string in natural from our Rainbow cord line
3) 3mm single strand metallic cord in gold/silver from our Lush cord line

02:13 - Step #1: Fold a 115 cm cord in half and place it down horizontally. Attach another
115cm cord vertically in the center with a Double Half Hitch (“DHH“) knot.
03:29 - Step #2: Attach a 25 cm string onto the horizontal cord with a Reverse Lark’s Head knot.
Then make an Overhand knot at the top with the string ends.
04:10 - Step #3: Fold the right horizontal cord end down and make another DHH knot with the bottom Vertical cord end.
04:29 - Step #4: Take the right cord as the anchor cord for another DHH knot to the left.
Repeat on the other side.
05:26 - Step #5: Take the third 115cm cord and make another 2 DHH knots onto the 2
Horizontal cord ends.
07:08 - Step #6: Make a row of 2 DHH knots to the right then 1 DHH knot to the right underneath.
07:54 - Step #7: Fold the anchor cord down for 1 DHH knot to the left and then 2
DHH knots to the left underneath.
08:44 - Step #8: Repeat for a full section underneath on the right.
08:56 - Step #9: Repeat the same 2 sections on the left side mirror the right-side.
10:28 - Step #10: Take the anchor cord on the left and make another row of 2 DHH knots to the left and then 1 DHH knot to the left underneath. Repeat the same on the right side.
11:11 - Step #11: Take the top 2 cords at the back and make a DHH knot.
11:43 - Step #12: Gather the cords together at the bottom and make a Gathering knot with a 30 cm cord.
13:14 - Step #13: Trim the fringe at the bottom to your desired length
