Instead of the lush paradise indicated by scans, I am greeted with a seething nightmare of purple growth strangling all but the last few specks of remaining life on the planet. Rather than colonize the perfectly normal ocean that occupies the remaining % of the terrain and ignore the one weird patch, command, in its infinite wisdom, demands I instead render the landmass habitable again through any means necessary... which, for anyone familiar with how I play games, may have some unintended consequences. Unfortunately for command, I consider navigating the world to be “boring“ and “too easy“ and have instead opted to beat the game without ever interacting with the blighted bits. In this episode, that process takes the form of many extremely questionable choices, such as the mass-introduction of microplastics into the local ecosystem, the addition of numerous air holes in my underwater survival dome, and carefully orchestrated social engineering campaigns designed to compact my crewmate’s colons into miniature gluten-based starch singularities so that I may collect fancy bonsai bushes. Welcome to Blightfall, an open world survival modpack dedicated towards defeating a continent overrun with Thaumcraft experimentation gone south. Blightfall can be downloaded on all of the usual modpack distribution platforms, and is lightweight enough to be playable on most off-the-shelf computer systems. While the game is theoretically balanced around a small party of 2 to 4 players, it is entirely possible to play on your own.
