Irish Co-Operative Gathers And Transports Peat - Part 2 (1920-1929)

Irish Co-operative Gathers and Transports Peat - part 2. Republic of Ireland. Continued from previous record. L/S of horse pulling barge along canal. A row of workers bent over in field; turning over chunks of peat; perhaps to dry them? Group of people near a part of ruins of old rock wall; nearly covered with moss or ivy; with a very narrow arch. Also shot of the arch alone. Men pose standing in long row. More of horse that pulls the barge; passing old stone building across river. Very busy scene: dock in FG; carts stacked up with bags parked on land in BG; workers unloading the carts. Next; another scene of harvesting the peat. Several workers unearth clumps of peat with their shovels & in the same movement send the pieces flying across ditch; where other men catch them and stack them in wheelbarrows. CU elderly Irish couple stand by a pile of peat; they look at camera for a bit; then start piling more pieces. Priest shakes hands with another old man. Shots of groups posing in front of stone wall.
