A Turbo FUNNY CAR? It exists!

A twin turbo Funny Car?! In all my years of watching drag racing I have never seen a turbo Funny Car - until Funny Car Chaos at Texas Motorplex! Scott Pareso changed that. This was formerly an Altered, and a quick one too. Scott has run in the high sixes at well over 200mph on the quarter mile (best of on the eighth mile) with the Altered body. For this event, he put on a Camaro Funny Car body. Scott is based out of Brighton, Colorado. The car runs an all steel block, 540 big block Chev with Holley EFI. For boost there is a pair of Borg Warner s475 turbos (75mm/96mm). The BTE Powerglide two speed transmission with a PTC converter applies the power to the track. Unfortunately the team didn’t get to show their full potential at Funny Car Chaos, with ignition and transmission problems holding them back. Their best of (eighth mile) would not be enough to qualify for the race show. But they did match up against a big nitro car in qualifying - and came out with a surprising result! This kind of car isn’t generally the thing you’d see at an NHRA event, like you’d see John Force in at Las Vegas this weekend. But it’s different and very cool. Oh, by the way, there was also a nitrous Funny Car there! Hang around to the end of the video to see it. 0:00 Intro 0:40 Test Pass 1:35 Engine Details 2:20 Qualifying (Versus Nitro Funny Car) 3:51 Night Qualifying (Best Run) 5:29 Bonus NITROUS Funny Car
