Shinichi Shinohara is a retired Japanese judoka, who competed in 100 kg and Open weight categories. He is 2-time World Champion and Olympic silver medalist (many believe he was robbed of gold medal in the final of 2000 Olympic games). S. Shinohara was a perfect example how good control of opponents upper body can lead to massive throws, he had tremendous O Soto Gari, Uchi Mata, he is also one of rare judokas that can count Uchi Mata Sukashi (counter to Uchi Mata) as their tokui waza (favorite technique). After his Judo career Shinohara became popular celebrity in Japanese TV shows and films, he is one of the characters in Yakuza Kiwami video game.
