Britain’s Latest Air Fighter Aka Britain’s New Fighter (1938)

Location of events unknown. Several shots of the new Spitfire Single Seater Fighter aeroplanes taking off from an airfield and in flight. In one shot a Spitfire speeds past a cumbersome (by contrast) flying boat. Nice shot of a pilot sitting in the cockpit before take-off. Some sections of footage are mute, others are transferred from combined print - there is no commentary but some natural sound. Some sequences are quite scratched. Note: paperwork says these are the first pictures of the new fighter, and mentions that many of the young pilots of the Royal Air Force are being trained to fly this new arrowhead of Britain’s Defence.
