This would effectively bar CATL from producing Electric Vehicle batteries in and for the US market. But CATL supplies batteries to virtually all carmakers, including our own. Tesla is working with CATL to expand production in Nevada, to produce models under $25k. Ford and CATL are jointly building a plant in Michigan, and GM is strongly considering doing so. Carmakers in friendly countries also rely heavily on CATL to produce low-cost batteries. Volvo, BMW, and Mercedes are heavy buyers of CATL, with large US manufacturing and marketing operations.
