Manga Introduction to the Japanese Economy ” is an educational manga about economics written by Shotaro Ishinomori and published by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun in November 1986 . It won the 33rd Shogakukan Manga Award (1987) and the Grand Prize at the 17th Japan Cartoonists Association Awards (1988), and was also made into an anime .The series was planned and produced by NAC . It aired on TV Tokyo from October 13, 1987 to March 29 of the following year. It has a total of 25 episodes. The series was broadcast as a 30-minute program on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. (22:00). At the time, it was the third most popular animated program on the major terrestrial networks to air at 10 p.m. , following ” Nonfiction Hour : The Birth of Japan ” (Nippon TV, 1970), ” Flower Chief ” (Mainichi Broadcasting System, 1976), and ” Dotanba no Manners ” (Fuji TV, 1984). Incidentally, the opening video combines live action and animation.
