Lady Nicotine’s Latest (1929)

Intertitle reads: “Tea-time...“ C/U of a doorbell. Finger presses the button. C/U of the bottom of the door as it opens, a woman’s pair of legs and feet. Another woman comes through the door and the legs move around as if excited. Looks as if the girls are greeting each other with hugs and kisses. The two pairs of legs run off screen. The girls sit on chairs with a small table between them (we still only see them from the legs down). Legs are twitched as if very, very excited by the prospect of afternoon tea. One of the girls pours a cup of tea for the other. The girl pouring the tea puts the teapot down and pulls the skirt of her dress up. This reveals a novelty item - a cigarette case which is attached to a garter! She opens it out then makes a gesture with her hand which seems to ask her friend, “Want a fag?“ or probably “Would you care for a cigarette?“She hands one to her friend and takes one out herself.
