A day in the life of Rosa the sea otter

Take a dive into a day in the life of our oldest sea otter, Rosa! Our sweet Rosa came to the Aquarium as a five-pound, four-week-old pup—she stranded as an orphan in late September 1999. This delightful otter has inspired generations of Aquarium guests and, before retiring in 2018, was a remarkable surrogate mom in our Sea Otter Program. Though Rosa remains active and in good health, as an older otter she is slowed by a heart condition and limited eyesight. As a result, Rosa requires extra care from our incredible Sea Otter Program team and veterinary staff to keep her comfortable in her retirement. Rosa is pawsitively otter-this-world, and we’re thrilled to share her daily routine with you! ____ Meet the rest of our resident sea otters: Watch more otterly pawesome sea otter videos: Donate to our Sea Otter Program: ____ Whale hello there!
