Our Fireman Nurses (1914-1918)

Our Fireman Nurses. Location of events unknown - somewhere in Britain. M/S of nurses during a fire drill, wheeling a hose along a parade ground and putting a pump in position in the ground in quick time. A large group of nurses and others watch and everyone applauds at the end of the exercise. We then see nurses at a ground floor window. Those inside pass a wounded man on a stretcher out through the window to some other nurses who run off with him - looks quite funny! An unidentified lady in a large hat stands up in the back of an open car and hands a trophy cup to one of the nurses. Nice end shot of group of nurses posing with the trophy while wounded soldiers (in the usual hospital uniform) applaud, cheer and wave their hats in the air. This is really nice footage. Although brief, there’s a real sense of camaraderie among the nurses and patients. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
