Several shots of buildings in the Old Quarter of Rome; skinny stray cats are seen in the ruins of the Theatre of Marcellus near the city’s ghetto; people give money to a woman begging on the street with a child in her arms. Some tough young men smoke cigarettes by their motorbikes; people mill about a flea market. Several shots in the streets of Trastevere; a woman looks down on the street from a flat above shops; people sit on chairs outside buildings. At the Piazza Santa Maria we see people sitting at tables outside a cafe; young boys play football in the street. A guitarist serenades diners at a pavement restaurant; commentator says rich and poor meet here because the ritziest cafes are sited in these back streets; bohemian and groovy looking people sit a
