I let my children bet in class!

💥I let my children bet in class!💥 Ok, before you start panicking and thinking your kids will become gambling addicts, hear me out! 😂 Do I have your attention? Here comes some background for the activity! I often create and use interactive videos to practice writing, reading, listening and sneaky grammar. All of my students know how to use the interactive videos with questions by now. I decided to level up by activating the ‘’bet’’ option on the answers. Here’s how it goes: 1\.You listen to the video and watch before the question time comes. 2\. You answer the question. In this option there is no audio replay! 3\. You then have a ‘’piggy bank’’ and $5 to start with! You need to think: How sure am I that my answer is correct? If I am 100% sure, I will invest $5. If not, I cannot skip investing, I need to add at least $1! 💥The kids’ reactions were WILD!💥 1️⃣ They need to think again because they need to be sure the answer is correct, just like doing a real school test - there is no going back. 2️⃣ There is a thrill and adventure because they need to take a risk by placing their earnings. Risk-taking also happens in real life and they need to trust their instincts. 3️⃣ They are motivated because the piggy bank has an animation that gets filled and they get extra reward - not just a feeling of ‘’I got a correct answer’’, or my praises, but an additional one because they collect the coins. 4️⃣ In group classes they work together. There is a lot of consolation happening when they lose their money. They showed a lot of support and no one shouted or said anything negative when their classmate lost ALL of the coins! I couldn’t be more proud, to be honest! I am, just like the children, a trinket goblin. If there’s a digital coin shining, I want it even though there is no real purpose in getting it 💰 Check out the video and tell me what do you think of the latest craze in my classroom! #englishforkids #englishgrammar #onlineenglish #onlineenglishteacher #onlineenglishclasses
