Russia: US missile defence system is a ’leaky umbrella’ – Shoigu

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reacted to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s message to the Federal Assembly, calling the US missile defence system a “leaky umbrella“ in Moscow on Thursday. “What is being created in Poland and Romania, is being created in Alaska [as well] and it is supposed to be created in South Korea and Japan. This ’umbrella’ of missile defence turns out to be leaky,“ said Shoigu. “I do not know why they get this ’umbrella’ for this [amount] money now?“ “As for the various photos from satellites, I can say that it’s not [19]95 already, - such planes never fly together. The photos that were published - I do not know where they came from, because all the planes were in shelters all the time. I hope that this year we will complete a full cycle of tests and this will be another surprise for our colleagues,“ the minister added.
