Moldova: Thousands face off with riot police at anti-Plahotniuc protest in Chisinau

Hundreds of protesters rallied outside parliament in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau on Thursday to oppose Moldovan oligarch and politician Vladimir Plahotniuc from running for prime minister. The protest was led by ’Our Party’ chairmen Renato Usatii, a supporter of the recent decision from Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti to reject the candidacy of Democratic Party (DPM) leader Plahotniuc.
