WW2, 1944: P-47D Thunderbolts Strafing German Ground Targets | 4k, 60fps, Color, Sound Design

😊 Buy me a coffee: Restored footage from the late stages of WW2 Germany (possible March - April 1944) showing the 362nd fighter group strafing ground targets with their Republic P-47D Thunderbolts. Footage shows a massive explosion after firing at a small building, possibly ammunition storage. Thunderbolts strafe trains and railway stations. A Thunderbolt fires at a ship. Unfortunately these reels were cut together in such a way that I can’t be sure who the pilots were. The footage was also surprisingly hard to restore. When I first saw the original reels, I thought I was going to get a really good result when I began enhancing it, as footage was shot in technicolor which gives the ai enhancement software more information to interpret what it’s seeing. However, I think something to do with the film grain was causing issues. I’ll still have a lot more from these reels that I want to restore for the docu-series I’m working on so I’ll try some other techniques.
