Game Recap: Penguins vs. Rangers () | Teddy Blueger Scores Shorthanded

The Penguins were looking to have a positive conclusion to their five-game homestead before heading on the road to play Buffalo on Thursday. Jack Johnson scored the first goal of the game against his former team. Jake Guentzel’s top-shelf shot tied things up at 1-1 to end the 1st period. Teddy Blueger scored a shorthanded tally (his second of the season) to give the Penguins the lead. Blueger’s shorthanded goal was the Penguins’ third such goal this year. He is one of only six NHL players with multiple shorthanded goals this season. Kasperi Kapanen added to his point total against the Rangers this season with a pretty shot only 20 seconds before the conclusion of the middle period. Kapanen leads all NHL players with seven points against the Rangers this season (3G-4A). Sidney Crosby put the final nail in the coffin with an empty-net tally. Tristan Jarry put together a dazzling performance, stopping 33 of 35 New York shots. SUBSCRIBE to be among the first to see new Penguins content by clicking here
