Although western governments have been slow to even raise their voices, let alone arms, against Israel for its brutal war upon the Gazan population, the people have been quick to act, filling the streets of cities big and small across the planet. But the people’s dissatisfaction with their own governments, particularly in the west, has been developing slowly over the past decades, which have seen austerity, job loss, erosion of the safety net and a creeping assault on civil liberties at home, and war abroad.
