GAME RECAP: Penguins at Islanders () | Carter Plays 1,321st And Final NHL Game

For game 82 of the 23-24 season, the Pittsburgh Penguins traveled to Long Island to take on the New York Islanders. New York got on the board first with a goal from Brock Nelson. Near the end of the 1st, Rickard Rakell scored the Penguin’s first goal. At the beginning of the 2nd, the Penguins went on the power play. Evgeni Malkin deflected the puck into the net to take the lead. Casey Cizikas answered to tie the game. Valtteri Puustinen responded by scoring on a breakaway. The Islanders once again tied the score before the end of the period on a shot by Kyle Palmieri. Islanders took back the lead early in the 3rd on a slap shot from Samuel Bolduc. Playing in his final game, Jeff Carter slammed a puck in on the back door for his final goal to tie the game 4-4. Carter played in 1,321 games and scored 442 with 409 assists.
