The original one was ‘therapy is a lifesaver’. However, I wanted to keep the mood quite light, so I ended up with the ‘house therapy’ title. I am quite open about the fact that I am going through therapy and I am taking SSRI antidepressants (escitalopram). I wanted to be honest about it, as I feel like there is still a lot of stigma associated with taking care of one’s mental health and normalising going to therapy. I was speaking to – let’s say, an online pen-pal – he shared that one of my comments inspired him to go through therapy himself, and that that has significantly improved the quality of his life and made him question the state of things he was in. That in turn inspired me to speak openly about it and, in a way, popularise it. If you feel constantly exhausted, sad, irritable and/or angry, if your sleep patters are messed up and you struggle to fall asleep at night and/or wake up tired, if you find yourself over and over again in the same situations and feel confused, you may consider speaking to a professional. Luckily, there are quite a lot of online therapy services, so you can have a therapy session from the comfort of your house.
