Who Is Imane Khelif? The Olympian Suing Elon Musk & Donald Trump

The story of the boxer who had to deal with controversy around her gender. Imane Khelif represented Algeria in the 2024 Paris Olympics, the welterweight boxer picked up gold this summer, despite all the scrutiny and hate surrounding her participation. After her achievement being overshadowed by controversy, and misinformation, Imane Khelif has filed a criminal complaint to the French authorities. Specifically naming Elon Musk and Donald Trump in the lawsuit. The Paris Prosecutor’s Office (National Center for the Fight Against Online Hatred), has confirmed it received the complaint filed by Khelif .Even though Trump was not specifically named in the lawsuit, due to him tweeting about the fighter, he will most certainly be part of the investigation. The criticism around her participation around the Paris 2024 Olympics came from the fact that Imane Khelif was previously disqualified from the 2023 Women’s World Championship because she failed to meet gender eligibility criteria. But nevertheless, the Independent Olympic Committee recognises Khelif as a female athlete, and questions the legitimacy of the IBA’s claim that she tested positive for XY chromosomes.
