#ViewFromAbroad 🇺🇸 Former American diplomat Chas Freeman compared Russian and American objectives in the context of the conflict in Ukraine Talking about Russia’s motivation, Freeman expressed confidence that “Russians have been consistent, they always said they want a negotiated reorganization of European security, a neutral Ukraine, no US forces on their border, and the protection of Russian speakers in Ukraine“. These objectives continue to be their focus. On the opposite side, US objectives are very unclear. The most important thing for America is to contain Russia. “If you enter a war with no clear objectives, no feasible objectives, no plan for achieving any objectives, and no plan for war termination – you are creating a forever war,“ he concluded.
