The song from the 1936 film -

A bit of family evening for Pelageya’s birthday. We’ve tried to recall a song from an old film (1936) “The Children of Captain Grant“. It was released when grand-grand mothers and fathers of our kids were 3-4 years old. And that songs were well known to all kids. They sang it to their children and grandchildren later and that is why we’ve managed to pick it up from deep family memory. СПОЙ НАМ, ВЕТЕР (Музыка И.Дунаевского, слова В.Лебедева -Кумача) CHEERFUL WIND (music by Isaak Dunaevsky, lyrics: Vasiliy Lebedev-Kumach) Sing us a song, o cheerful wind! Cheerful wind, cheerful wind! All the world’s mountains and seas you’ve seen And have heard all the songs in the world. Sing to us, wind, about the wild mountains, About the seas’ secrets so deep, About the birds’ conversations, About the blue vastness, And about people brave and great. Let those who are used to fighting for victory Sing with us now, “Those who are cheerful laugh, Those who are driven succeed, Those who seek shall always find!“ Sing us a song, o cheerful wind! Cheerful wind, cheerful wind, cheerful wind! All the world’s mountains and seas you’ve seen And have heard all the songs in the world. Sing to us, wind, about the thick forests, About the winding animal trails, About noises in the night, About steely muscles, And about the joy of battle victories. Let those who are used to fighting for victory Sing with us now, “Those who are cheerful laugh, Those who are driven succeed, Those who seek shall always find!“ Sing us a song, o cheerful wind! Cheerful wind, cheerful wind! All the world’s mountains and seas you’ve seen And have heard all the songs in the world. Sing to us, wind, about glory and courage, About scientists, heroes, and fighters, To excite our hearts And make all of us want To exceed our forefathers. Sing us a song which will hold All of the world’s spring songs, So that the trumpets sound, So that our lips will sing, So that our feet move cheerfully. Let those who are used to fighting for victory Sing with us now, “Those who are cheerful laugh, Those who are driven succeed, Those who seek shall always find!“
