Grinning Death’s Head - Cataclysm (Full EP)

I’ve been following Grinning Death’s Head since their 2011 album No Afterlife, back when they were a one piece. They were a one man noisy black metal band back then with some punkiness thrown in as well. Mark McCoy (Charles Bronson, Das Oath, Youth Attack Records) and Ian Jacszyn (Absolute Power, Miasmatic Necrosis, Suburbanite) joined the band in 2017 for the Blood War album, and their presence immediately brought the band to new heights. The sound shifted from a wall of noise to discernible and catchy-yet-menacing riffs matched with atmospheric synths. Flash forward to 2021 and the Cataclysm EP shows that the next stage of GDH’s evolution is their best yet. Seriously, this thing is insane.
