The Largest Biplane Ever Flown | Caproni [Aircraft Overview #23]

The Caproni was the culmination of Gianni Caproni’s ambitions. Since the First World War he had designed a series of large and impressive aircraft, but in 1929 he produced something truly massive. When it first flew, the was the largest landplane in the world, only the Dornier Do X flying boat beat it by wingspan, and the would remain the largest land biplane ever built. Unfortunately, it became a victim of politics and poor timing. The Italian Air Ministry was shying away from the use of large bombers, and the onset of the great depression ended any ambitions to turn the into a commercial aircraft. *** Producing these videos is a hobby of mine. I have a passion for history, and personally own a large collection of books, journals and other texts, and endeavor to do as much research as possible. However if there are any mistakes, please don’t hesitate to reach out and correct anything :) Sources:
