Hello everyone. Welcome to a new video on this channel. Today we’re testing a Sapphire Radeon R7 370 with 4GB VRAM. That’s a former mid-range GPU of 2015. I’ve paired this GPU with my i5 6400 and 16GB DDR4 dual-channel RAM test system. In my opinion, the components fit together very well. There were no inconsistent bottlenecks in games. I wouldn’t recommend using the CPU with a much more powerful graphics card. What I noticed positively is that the entire system only consumes between 140W and 180W of power under load. A 6-pin connector is sufficient to power the graphics card, as the total consumption of the Radeon R9 370 is between 110 and 130 watts. This is good because it allows you to use the PC with almost any power supply. For example, I only used a 250W Fujitsu OEM power supply. The system ran stable, and there were no crashes. So in terms of power consumption, I can recommend the GPU. But what about the performance in 30 games in 2021?
It looks very very good. I tested an HD 7750 with 1 GB VRAM the other day. In this video, I chalked up the lack of RAM, although I was pleasantly surprised by the pure GPU performance. The R7 370 does not have the VRAM problem. The 4GB is still sufficient for all of today’s games. The R9 370 4GB has also aged very well in terms of performance. Of the 30 games tested, all were playable. Even Call of Duty Warzone is halfway playable. Of course, you are already playing at a big disadvantage compared to other gamers who are using much stronger hardware, but the game still doesn’t stutter or is unplayable.
That all sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? That’s right, there is a big problem. Just 3 months ago, I would have recommended the R9 370 without a second thought. It would have been the perfect GPU recommendation. A graphics card that only costs about $80 to $100 and you can play all the games from 2021. AMD probably realized that and thought about how they could artificially destroy a GPU that is still absolutely okay in terms of performance. For about 3 months, the driver support for all AMD graphics cards older than the RX series was discontinued. That was a shock. AMD mentioned it in passing to generate as little attention as possible. The big positive news at that time was AMD FidelityFX to bring the negative news, namely to cancel any driver support for graphics cards older than 5 years, unnoticed over the stage.
But to be honest, the lack of driver support is the only negative point.
That’s why I still recommend the r9 370 4GB for gaming in 2021. Especially considering the current high graphics card prices, this graphics card is an absolute no-brainer in terms of performance. So buy the GPU even if AMD has something against it and wants to *piep* the second-hand market.
As always, thank you very much for your attention. Hope to see you all in the next video. Stay healthy and leave a like if you liked the video. Also, a subscription would make me very happy. See you soon. Bye-bye.
