When I was considering running for Senate, I decided to talk to some people there to get a feel for what I was getting myself into. The first Senator I talked to was J.D. Vance. He said to me, “You’re going to hate the swamp, but because I know you’re going to hate the swamp, we need you in the swamp. We need people who don’t love Washington, D.C. to go to Washington, D.C.“ I‘m going to be a Senator like J.D. has been.
