Raphael Arie - Boris Godunov - Death scene

Raphael Arie (1922 - 1988) Bulgarian bass was born in 1922 in Sofia. He first studied the violin, but then his voice was discovered and he began studies with the baritone Christo Brambarov. He made his concert debut in Sofia in 1939 singing the bass part in Handel’s Messiah. He performed at the Sofia Opera (1945) and in 1946 won first prize in a singing competition in Geneva.
