💥How much yarn for your project:
🪄HOOK SIZE: I am using an F size Nelsonwood hook in this tutorial, you can find more info here:
#/
I recommend using the below hook sizes depending on yarn used:
3 DK yarn : to
Size 4 Medium/worsted weight: to .
Mixing 3 & 4 weight: to
SIZE 1 Lace Weight - to 3mm hook used on slouchy hat
THE YARN: I’m using size 3 yarn, any brand will work as well as any size.
Colors used:
Color A is 💫Deramores Studio Baby DK in Paprika
COLOR B : 💫Deramores Studio Baby Dk in Topaz
Note on mixing yarn sizes 3 (DK) & Size 4 (Medium Worsted weight): THE TRICK TO MIXING YARN SIZES IS JUST KEEPING YOUR TENSION EVEN AND USING THE SMALLEST SIZE HOOK RECOMMENDED FOR THE SMALLER YARN! You can use any yarn size you like and can use yarn that is all the same size, you do not have to mix yarn sizes.
Suggested starting chains for various projects - counts include 4 at end:
Baby blanket: 116 chains depending on yarn size used
Place mats: 68 chains
Table Runner: 68 to 100 chains for total width of table runner, you will then work the repeats to obtain the total length for your table.
Throw blanket : 164 chains, yarn size will affect total width and the number of repeats is up to you and will determine total length
Tote or Throw Pillow: 68 chains depending on yarn size used and desired size, create 2 and seam together
Makeup or Notions bag: 68, create 2 and sew together or see in the round info below
Scarf: 36 chains depending on yarn size used and desired width. I recommend size 3 light weight yarn or smaller for garments.
Wide scarf: 68 Chains
Shawl: 324 chains
IN THE ROUND projects - Slip stitch to first chain and you must work into that first stitch following the repeat given in the video:
Slouchy Hat: 96 chains, in size 1 yarn with a mm hook (20 inch adult hat)
Throw Pillow: 20“ to 24“ depending on yarn size used and tension, chain 96 to 112 chains
Bag or Tote: 96 chains or 112 chains, depending on desired size
Treat bags/Mini gift bags: 32 chains
Project info and starting:
To begin your project you will chain in multiples of 16 plus 4 at the end to work a flat piece. You will skip the first chain and begin working in the second chain from the hook, ending up with an odd number of stitches. EXAMPLE: I chained 36 and had 35 stitches at the end of my first Foundation Row.
MATH: 16 16 = 32 4 = 36
TO WORK IN THE ROUND: chain in multiples of 16 and slip stitch to the first chain, begin working the Repeat as given in the video.
