„...The basic idea of the movie, that would fit onto the infamous matchbook, immediately got me excited. The idea was born when I came across Boaring Postcards by Martin Parr as I was meandering through bookstores. An animated title sequence based on old GDR postcards. The concept turned out to be very helpful because it made it possible to introduce the story at the original GDR sites before the wall came down. The postcards were collected at Berlin flea markets. They reflected the atmosphere around Alexanderplatz during the era prior to 1989 in Berlin. This region had undergone significant changes by the time the film was shot. Parts of the postcard motifs disappear, leaving room for new motifs to appear from behind. For me it is the search for the true image behind the illusion of the idealized official version
