My First Reef Aquarium, episode 4 - The cycling process

In this episode we discuss the Nitrogen cycle, a natural biological process that is critical to the success of our future reef. The Nitrogen cycle takes place in both saltwater and freshwater environments and usually takes about 8 weeks. During this period we mostly monitor our tank and supplement with nitrogen and phosphate compounds and elements that enhance the growth of the denitrifying bacteria. 00:33 – What is the Nitrogen cycle? 01:20 – Starting the cycle 02:19 – The cleaning crew 02:46 – The first fish 03:10 – Expected algae blooms 03:32 – Monitoring the parameters 00:00 – The end of the cycle Join our Facebook group: We are constantly making videos designed to empower you with knowledge.
