【Kudo exchange matches Apr. 2023】Ito vs. Onuki

Onuki was a finalist in the All Japan Senior Championships the year before last. Ito, on the other hand, is still a white belt. He previously held a green belt in full contact karate, but his Kudo career is only about a year and a half old. Generally speaking, if these two were to face off, one would expect a one-sided victory for the former. However, seeing Ito’s diligent daily practice and his progress (Ito is my student), I decided that a good match would be possible, and so I made up the match. Before the match, I told Ito, who was nervous, “You are still young. Just challenge!! To use your youth as a weapon in the fight.“ The 50-year-old man was told like that by others. Isn’t the world of Budo wonderful? ;) And he did as he was told and boldly challenged the black belt. Onuki, on the other hand, keeps trying to control an energetic fighter 10 years younger than himself with his skilled techniques. It turned out to be a good match as I had hoped. Age is just a number. Kudo is amazing. You would agree with me, wouldn’t you? ;)
