Why is Islam always so prominent in Britain, in a way that religions such as Hinduism are not?

A day does not pass in this country without mention of something to do with Islam and Muslims appearing in the news. Either Muslims are being hard done by or they are marching through the British capital waving foreign flags. It is impossible to ignore or forget about Islam if you live in Britain.
