League Council (1936)

Full title reads: “League Council meets at St. James’ Palace“. London. European statesmen negotiate a return to patrols of the Franco-German frontiers by neutral troops. Various shots of European statesmen arriving in Queen Anne Drawing Room in St. James’ Palace. They are there to listen to speech by Herr Joachim Von Ribbentrop, special envoy to Adolf Hitler (president and chancellor of Germany). M/S of Von Ribbentrop being greeted by Stanley Melbourne Bruce (former Prime Minister of Australia). Various shots of statesmen sitting around table. Narrator says: “Already the frank and free discussions round the table are having their effect - and the tense atmosphere of the last few days is considerably lightened. If there was any danger of war - the danger is now far away ...“. Library footage of British troops marching though German city on the Rhine (probably from early 1920s).
