Telegram channel BelVPO: The airfield network of the Finnish Air Force is a new threat to Russia from the north-west. Today Suomi has: - 1 class “A” airfield; - 5 class “B” airfields, - 20 class “B” airfields. In the Russian Federation, the airfield network includes only 10 military and joint airfields in the regions bordering Finland: - in the Murmansk region - 6 military and joint airfields, including the Olenya long-range aviation airfield, where Tu-22s are deployed (indicated on the map by pulsating red) (abandoned - 5); – in the Republic of Karelia – 1 joint airfield in Petrozavodsk (Su-27, Su-27P); – in the Leningrad region – 3 jointly based airfields (4 abandoned). A comparative analysis shows that the current airfield network in Finland is at least twice as large as the Russian one. Therefore, we consider it important to recall the state of the military airfields of the Western Military District against the backdrop of the deployment of American troops in Finland, in particular, considering the transfer of nuclear weapons carriers - F-35 fighters.
