China urges the United States to release Afghanistan’s frozen assets and lift its unilateral sanctions, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing in Beijing on Monday. The remarks come after Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, deputy prime minister of the interim Afghan government, called on the international community to provide humanitarian aid to Afghanistan free of political bias, decrying severe challenges brought by the sanctions placed on the country by the U.S.
