Inuit mythology tells of a creature, or race of creatures, that takes the form of a gigantic wolf with piercing eyes and a howl like a amarok! The amarok is said to be the keeper of the natural balance, mediating between hunter and prey. It is also said to be an unmatched hunter in its own right, consuming scores of caribou in the blink of an eye, as well as any human foolish enough to wander the tundra after dark. Amaroks appear in many stories of Inuit mythology and folklore, acting as healer, monster, and a bridge between the physical and spirit realms!
