Health Canada authorizes updated Moderna vaccine as “COVID indicators at low levels“ | FULL

Health Canada’s chief medical advisor Dr. Supriya Sharma said Tuesday the agency has authorized an updated Moderna vaccine, tailored to combat the Omicron subvariant. The health regulator approved the updated mRNA vaccine for Canadians six months of age and older. The approval comes just as Canada’s fall respiratory season gets underway, with health officials telling Canadians there “it’s not too late” to get the shot. “Overall, the COVID indicators are at low levels—low to moderate in some areas,” said Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s chief public health officer. “So, we’re just at the beginning of this fall-winter circulation. So, it’s not too late to a get a COVID-19 vaccine and a flu shot, even throughout the season.” Health Canada is reviewing submissions by Pfizer BioNTech and Novovax.
