Boney M.: Daddy Cool - Anniversary Recording ’86 (Special 15 Min. Mega Mix!)

Boney M. officially disbanded in the beginning of 1986, just after their compilation album The Best Of 10 Years had been released along with a final TV show. While the group’s latest LP Eye Dance failed to chart, The Best Of 10 Years peaked at #3 in the German charts. Producer Frank Farian decided to record a completely new version of the group’s first international hit, Daddy Cool, updating it with a heavy italo-disco sound, but upon its release in March ’86 it was a total flop. The original Maxi-Version ran 9 minutes but I have extended it with another 6 minutes by incorporating the parts from the instrumental B-side . (which ironically runs 30 seconds longer on the 7“ than on the 12“) and also including some rare parts from a white label 12“ which featured an alternate mix.
