Ferdinand Leeke - Meet his best paintings

Ferdinand Leeke (1859-1923) Ferdinand Leeke was a painter and illustrator in Munich. He was famous for his illustrations of Wagner’s operas, which he created on behalf of the composer and son of Wagner Siegfried Wagner. Leeke studied at the Academy in Munich as a pupil of Johann Herterich and Alexander Wagner. His oeuvre covers portraits and genre paintings as well as Old Germanic subjects, and illustrations for magazines and ’German heroic saga’. His way of painting is characterized by different styles of the turn-of-the-century and they shows features of Jugendstil and symbolism.
