Innovative State Capitalism in Emerging Markets: the Case of Kazakhstan and Beyond
Roman Vakulchuk, Senior Research Fellow, NUPI
In this seminar a senior research fellow specializing in emerging markets, Roman Vakulchuk from NUPI, will first present the concept of innovative state capitalism currently evolving in China, Brazil, India and other emerging markets. Secondly, he will present his recently published book that introduces an in-depth case study of innovative state capitalism in Kazakhstan. In particular, in his book he examines the role of the state and market regulation of economic processes and identifies and analyses the ‘core-periphery’ economy in Kazakhstan. The core argument of the presentation is that as state capitalism becomes innovative, we need more innovative analytical tools for analysing it.” More about the book “Kazakhstan’s Emerging Economy: Between State and Market”
