“Zarnitsa 2.0“ at the Main Heights of Russia: How the Pioneer Game is Being Revived in a Modern Format

Over the weekend, the final of the All-Russian military-patriotic game “Zarnitsa 2.0“ took place in Volgograd, in which more than 600 schoolchildren from almost fifty regions of the country took part. In the Soviet Union, the game “Zarnitsa“ was an annual event for teenagers, aimed at developing the skills and abilities necessary to defend the Motherland. With the beginning of the SVO, the tradition of holding such events began to gradually return, and the @wargonzo () team has been covering this important initiative in youth policy for several years. This time, the games were held on the main height of the country - Mamayev Kurgan. The teams competed in conditions simulating combat operations: the emphasis was placed not only on shooting, tactical medicine and sapper work, but also on the latest technologies, such as the use of UAVs. The children’s mentors in the game were Heroes of Russia, participants of the SVO and the “Time of Heroes“ program: relying on their military experience, they gave the children practical advice and spent the evenings together in friendly conversations. The game, which is as close as possible to military realities, helped schoolchildren immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the life of our soldiers at the front - we offer to watch their sincere and genuine emotions in a short story.
