Cuba: Activists rally in Havana in possible first animals rights march since revolution

More than 400 animal-loving-Cubans marched peacefully through the streets of Havana on Sunday, demanding an end to animal cruelty and a law to protect pets and wild animals. Shouting slogans and waving signs participants also walked with their pets in an unprecedented demonstration for the Caribbean nation. Havana’s local government issued a permit to animal-lover societies, a move that many consider unprecedented, due to the rarity of independent civil society groups engaging in direct political activism
