Jean-Michel Jarre - Psychedelica (Snapshots from EoN)
Even if we are unsure whether robots are capable of taking over, they can certainly make some really awesome music if touched by a technical expertise and musical genius of Jean-Michel Jarre. This video is a re-mastered excerpt is from a generative music app EON by Jarrelabs(courtesy of Jean-Michel Jarre) that generatively layers almost 7-8hours of produced content systematically to be able to produce infinite variations over time. To top it off, we have these stunning visuals to enhance the overall experience. It’s different every time you open it, asking you indirectly to live in the moment. But, thankfully we can capture it!
In the sense of ages and forever, the time represented by EoN is limitless and unbounded. EoN is frequently used in cosmology, geology, and astronomy to refer to a billion-year period... This project is called EoN because it best describes what it is: an infinite musical and visual creation that provides each individual with a unique experience through its primary support as an App: on each device, and with each launch of the EoN App, you will hear and see a unique ever-evolving orchestration of the music and visuals. EoN is a never-ending, never-repeating organic art piece that will live and expand in everyone’s own unique space-time continuum, right at their fingertips.
Personally, Jarre believes EoN is one of the most fascinating creative projects he’s worked on since Oxygene. He has always wanted to make music that is unique to each listener and can change over time. It’s here. EoN was created and composed for viewers to enjoy for the rest of one’s life!
He had a clear vision of the organic, live images he wanted to accompany my music, and he was fortunate enough to spend some time in Tokyo at Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc (Sony CSL), where he met Alexis André and his singular visual world. Sony CSL collaborated with Alexis to create an algorithm that generates an infinite stream of ever-evolving images that, like music, is never ending or repetitive. All of the illustrations in this box are visual representations of Alexis’ graphic design work. After they created the principles of the system together, Alexis Zbik and Vianney Apreleff from BLEASS engineered the algorithm and audio engine that orchestrates the music of the EoN App.
