After Burner II (Genesis) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Sega’s 1990 Sega Genesis arcade shooter, After Burner II. Given the source material and the year of the Genesis port’s release, all I can say is wow. It’s obvious a significant downgrade from the original 1987 arcade release (running on the far more powerful, far more expensive X Board hardware), but for such an early title on the Genesis, this impresses. The 32X version was far closer, but it also game out 4 years later and required an entire system add-on to do it. The Genesis port’s graphics are fast and smooth, the music is as faithful to the original sample driven music as FM could ever hope to get, and the enemies fly pretty thick. It’s a good test for the thumbs and the eyes. Like so many of Sega’s arcade games, you’ll die often, but you’ll always have fun doing it. And if you have to invest a good deal of time into something to finish it, isn’t that ideal? _____ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. NintendoComplete () punches you
