The Orthodox Church wants to ban abortion, to increase the population of Russia

The Orthodox Church wants to ban abortion, to increase the population of Russia. They mean well, but this is a somewhat backward way of looking at things. Here’s another angle: 5 million Russians live in Germany alone, and up to 30 million in the US. Wouldn’t it be wise to ascertain which factors RETAIN the population at home - such as dignified wages, availability of new housing, etc. And it’s not like they don’t know - authorities have done a pilot project in the far, Far East. Between 2011 and 2016, the birth rate in Sakhalin increased from to children per woman. This was the fastest rate of growth not only in Russia, but in the world at the time. What was the one single factor that produced this result? All newlyweds received a down payment on a home. With the 1st birth, the couple received a certificate to repay a part of their mortgage. At the 2nd birth - another partial repayment. With the 3rd, the couple’s mortgage balance was paid off in full, or a grant given for the building of a new, larger dwelling. So there is a direct correlation between birthrates and housing security. The knowledge and experience is there, but the implementation of it more widely got buried. And before some suspect this is a pro-abortion post, it’s not. But I don’t believe the Church can raise birth rates alone. Источник: Inessa S ️️
