A Garden Warbler’s (Silvia borin) astonishing song

A Garden Warbler’s (Silvia borin) astonishing song. These birds usually don’t choose a position in the top of a bush or tree, as many other songbirds do. I bought a shelter tent in 2019, and this works great! This allowed me to capture this garden warbler up close. My microphones were about two meters below the bird under the bush, fortunately he was not afraid of that, if he saw them at all. It sounds like a studio recording. The song is confusable with that of the blackcap although compared to that species it is slightly lower-pitched, less broken into discrete song segments and more mellow. Both species have a quiet subsong, a muted version of the full song, which is much more difficult to separate. Subsong also may be heard on the wintering grounds in Africa, developing into the full song in March and April prior to the return to Europe. Here’s a link to it: Ee
